While we love solar at Energetic Communities, all energy performance and electrificaton programs and policy must follow the Energy Hierarchy!
We love shade and well designed homes (and fair access to them), energy efficiency, solar, batteries, heat
pumps and EVs. We also want our homes to mould free, heat resilient, healthy and affordable. And we want everyone to access the rebates and concessions they’re eligible for, but all this requires everyone to be aware of whats out there, o understand ther bills and understand how to use these shiny things.
Energy Literacy for Renters and Households Made Vulnerable
Energetic Communities has been funded by the Queensland Treasury (Energy and Climate Division) (formerly by the Department of Energy and Climate under the previous government) through the Enable Grants Program. We have co-developed two energy litercy programs through this funding round:
- EmpoweringRenters in Partnership with Tenants Queensland and
- ChargeUp in partenrship with the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) and Neighbourhood Centres Queensland (NCQ)
These programs assist households to understand their energy use, and to support the community services sector to ensure this information reaches Queensland’s most vulnerable households.
Empowering Renters

Renters in Queensland are disadvantaged in navigating the complex world of energy management, and getting what should be an affordable, climate resilient and healthy home.
Our goal is to transform this landscape by providing practical and accessible resources that empower renters to take control of their energy usage. Understanding energy consumption is the first step towards reducing living costs and advancing towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
Join us in making renting a more empowering and affordable experience. Together, we can create a brighter, more energy-efficient future.
The EmPowering Renters project received grant funding from the Queensland Government as part of the Enable Grants Program. Energetic Communities Association is working in collaboration with Tenants Queensland to help Queensland renters reduce their energy use.
Charge-Up

While access to energy services is a basic human need, many households struggle to afford the cost of energy, understand their energy use and navigate energy matters. This is particularly true for low income and vulnerable households.
Community service organisations work every day to support vulnerable households with cost of living pressures, including accessing energy concessions and navigating hardship programs. The energy system is complex, and access to material that explains the market in plain terms to families can be difficult. To repair this short circuit in knowledge, Energetic Communities has partnered with the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS, Project Lead) and Neighbourhood Centres Queensland (NCQ).
